Right now are on what we have termed a "baby tour" through the Midwest, visiting our family and friends and showing off our beautiful little girl. First stop, Chicago, to visit our friends Luke (Andrew's Best Man) and his wife Jo for a couple days. On Monday we will visit friends and see Camp Gray (Catholic summer camp where Andrew used to volunteer) as we make our way up to Green Bay to spend a week with Andrew's family.
Yesterday at a whopping 2 months and one day old Gabriella took her first airplane ride. We had been told by some that "now is the time to fly" and "good luck" by others. We are proud to announce that our first travel experience was a success!
The timing worked out just perfectly. We nursed as we as we went up and as we came down so she wasn't bothered by the pressure changes at all. In the airport and on the plane she was very wide-eyed and curious and somewhat reluctant to sleep but generally in a good mood. We were able to get her to nap at the gate while we waited for the flight by pulling the shade on her car seat down so as to decrease all the stimulation and she fell right to sleep. It was a bit more challenging on the plane since her car seat was down below. Daddy made an improvised little tent using his sweatshirt and she dozed on and off. She only started crying once but as soon as mommy stood up in the aisle with her and bounced around, she calmed down and went back to being all smiles. Gabbie was happy so the other passengers were happy too.
Below is a picture of Gabbie with daddy in the airport waiting for her first flight. The second picture is of her napping today in the 86 degree(!) weather here in Chicago.
